Diarmuid Smyth MSc, FSyI. CPP - Managing Director

Diarmuid Smyth is the managing director of Sword. Diarmuid has many years experience in the security and crowd management industry. He holds a bachelors degree from National University Ireland and a Masters Degree in Risk, Crisis and Emergency Management from the Scarman Centre at Leicester University, as well as numerous certificates and diplomas from leading security organisations.

Diarmuid is board certified in security management (CPP) from the world’s leading professional security organisation – the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and a Fellow of the Security Institute. He has also completed security and terrorism courses with the United Nations Training Institute, the American Military University and St. Andrews University.

Diarmuid is a regular guest lecturer at 3rd level institutions on security topics. As a leading expert he has appeared live on Irish National television and he is consulted by leading media on security and crowd management issues. On an operational level Diarmuid has acted as head of security for some of Europe’s largest events.

Diarmuid is currently chairman of the Events and Entertainment Division of the Irish Security Industry Association.

Eoghan Gill B.Corp Law, LLB, MBA - Business Development Manager

Eoghan Gill, a qualified solicitor,  is responsible for the strategic analysis and implementation of business and legal strategy for the company. He is the head of the New Business Team that ensures the smooth running of all new contracts.

His Operational experience spans over ten years operating at Senior Management and Directorial level managing up to 1,000 personnel at large scale events.

He has worked with some of the world's best known celebrities and dignitaries in conjunction with bodyguard teams and advanced security personnel. His business experience is combined with an academic background encompassing an MBA and two law degrees.

Mark Toner BA,M.Ed - National Training Manager

Mark Toner is the Sword Event Guard International Training and Development Manager. Involved in the security industry for ten years he has worked operationally in every security sector.

In addition to holding a first class honours degree in education, he is a certified instructor with the Security Institute of Ireland. A member of the Irish Institute of Training and Development, Mark holds a Masters in Training and Development from the University of Bradford. Mark has produced Ireland's first DVD of security techniques for Door Staff.

Training and development, at all levels, is seen as key to the continued expansion of the company and this is reflected in the company mission statement. The courses designed and run by Sword Event Guard International, are often unique in both content and delivery with many externally validated. An ongoing system of review and evaluation ensures that course content is both relevant and engaging.
