In anticipation of the Private Security Authority's plans to license event security, the Irish Security Industry Association (ISIA) have established an Event and Entertainment Division.

The division will represent companies who are involved in the supply of Event Security and Door Supervisory Personnel (DSP) throughout Ireland, and is open to companies who supply Door Staff to Pub, Clubs, Hotels as well as event security personnel to concert and sporting events.

Diarmuid Smyth, Managing Director of Sword Event Guard, a supplier of personnel in the event security and entertainment sector was elected as the chairman of the division. "Diarmuid was a natural choice for the position due to his experience within the sector," explains Mr Barry Brady, Executive Director of the ISIA,, "and we are confident that he will play a key role in representing the industry to the PSA."

"It is a privilege to have been elected to this position." says Mr Smyth. "The sector had previously lacked a voice within industry, and I congratulate the ISIA on taking the decision to establish a dedicated division to ensure effective representation. The PSA are currently examining the licence situation regarding event security and we need to ensure that the people who know and operate within the industry are part of the decision making process. 

ISIA event sector companies operate with all of Ireland's leading sporting organisations, music promoters and the majority of the top stadiums.
